The SNP have demonstrated that they do not prioritise our schools. Adult restrictions are gradually easing as we near the end of the pandemic. However, because face masks remain in classrooms, young people have been pushed to the back of the queue once again.

We are the only party fighting for pupil freedom during the pandemic. The Scottish Conservatives prioritise education and will continue to fight for the removal of face masks in schools so that pupils can regain some sense of normality.

Removing face masks is the first step toward getting our education back on track. Wearing a mask in class disrupts pupils’ learning, and with Scotland already falling in international rankings and the attainment gap widening, it is critical to remove face masks and get our education system back on track.

The SNP must do their research and remove face masks in the classroom. With vaccinations among 12 to 15-year-olds on the rise and positive Covid-19 results among the latter on the decline, it makes no sense to disrupt pupils’ learning with face masks. The Scottish Conservatives will continue to fight for their removal.
