Scotland’s Covid recovery

The SNP are prepared to put their plan for another divisive referendum ahead of Scotland’s recovery.

Every party promised to put recovery first. In May’s election, all of Scotland’s parties stood on a clear manifesto promise to prioritise Scotland’s recovery from the pandemic. However, before all the votes were counted Nicola Sturgeon was again restarting her campaign for independence.

The Scottish Conservatives will prioritise our recovery as we emerge from the pandemic. Scottish jobs and businesses must be put first. We cannot go back to a cycle of lifting and reintroducing restrictions with little or no notice.

The Scottish Conservatives oppose the SNP’s unplanned and chaotic vaccine passport scheme. Despite having months to prepare for such a scheme, the government offered little details on how the scheme would be delivered when it was announced.

We pushed the SNP Government to deliver on our campaign for 100% business tax relief for this year and we will campaign again for further relief next year, to help high streets and town centres to recover. We will also support the delay of new business regulations until April 2023, to allow businesses to prioritise rebuilding their customer base rather than complying with new government rules.
