Future farm policy

The SNP are stalling on future farm policy and funding.

Our farmers have gone above and beyond during the pandemic. They have kept our supermarket shelves stocked and ensured that we have all been able to continue enjoying high-quality produce.

The SNP are out of touch with Scotland’s farmers and rural communities. Year after year, they have shamefully kept them in the dark over the future direction of agriculture policy. Last month they created yet another working group to steer policy forward.

The Scottish Conservatives would consult on a new agricultural policy now. The time for talking is over. There is a new SNP Rural Affairs Secretary in place, but they are barely any further forward.

The extremists Greens in government is a threat to Scotland’s farmers. Now that the SNP have signed a coalition agreement with the Greens, rural communities and the wider agriculture sector are worried that they will be ignored even more.

Only the Scottish Conservatives will deliver for Scotland’s farmers. The Scottish Conservatives will continue to stand up for farmers who work tirelessly day in day out. It is time the SNP did the same.
