We’re bringing forward a new Benefit Fraud Bill to tackle the SNP’s light-touch approach and protect taxpayers’ money.
Our Bill would give Social Security Scotland stronger powers to recover benefit overpayments and end the tick-box approach to benefit claims.
We would also double the maximum sentence for benefit fraud from five to ten years, with tougher penalties for those who deliberately abuse the system.
Scotland needs a benefits system that supports those who genuinely need help, while being fair to the taxpayers who fund it.
