The Scottish Conservatives force Humza Yousaf to resign

The Scottish Conservatives have forced Humza Yousaf to resign as SNP leader, following a motion of no confidence from Douglas Ross.

Set to lose the confidence vote later in the week, the failed First Minister had no choice but to resign before he suffered a humiliating defeat.

It comes after a weekend of chaos following his decision to ditch the SNP’s agreement with the extremist Greens.

In just over one year as First Minister, Humza Yousaf has repeatedly failed Scotland – hurting hardworking families and households across Scotland by raising taxes, letting NHS waiting lists spiral out of control and attacking free speech.

Today, the Scottish Conservatives have delivered on our promise to be a strong opposition to Humza Yousaf and the SNP.

We saw off Nicola Sturgeon, we forced out Humza Yousaf – and we will continue to hold the SNP to account, whoever they elect as their next leader.

In seats right across Scotland, it’s a straight fight between the us and the SNP, we’re taking the fight to them and winning.

We forced Humza Yousaf out the door – now let’s beat the SNP up and down the country.
