Regional Campaign Manager – East of Scotland

We are seeking to appoint Regional Campaign Managers who can help us develop our campaigns across Scotland. This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and ambitious individuals who thrive on an array of new challenges.

The Role

Working closely in a fast- paced environment with other Scottish Conservative campaign staff in our Central Office in Edinburgh, Regional Campaign Managers provide focus for campaign priorities both during and outside of election periods. They ensure effective campaigning is taking place including delivery of leaflets, canvassing and telecanvassing, and work with our local volunteer teams to develop activist networks and build our campaigning structures.

Developing relations with all Associations through regular telephone, email and face-to-face contact and reporting any operational difficulties to the Scottish Director, your responsibilities will include:

  • Recruit volunteers and build campaign teams
  • Manage an on-going voter contact programme, including phoning and door-to-door canvassing
  • Produce local Party literature and building a delivery network
  • Ensure all elections are well organised and the vote is maximised
  • Organise action days and mutual aid for target seats
  • Oversee the selection of Local Government candidates in every seat
  • Work closely with MSPs and elected representatives of all levels
  • Attend Association meetings to ensure staff are familiar with local key personnel / activists
  • Produce reports to the Scottish Director on all campaign activity

The Person

This is a frontline campaigning position, where your solid interpersonal skills will be crucial. Political and campaigning priorities can change quickly, so you should not see this a normal 9-5 role. You will be prepared to provide hands-on-sleeves-rolled up support and go over and beyond to get the job done.

The ideal Regional Campaign Manager will have some relevant experience with excellent political judgement and interest / knowledge of the Conservative Party. You will need to be a self-starter with excellent organisational skills and have the ability to work independently and as part of the team. Experience and interest in wider political roles is desirable.

Voluntary Party Liaison and Development Executive

Location: Glasgow

Contract Type: Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our existing team within the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party as a Voluntary Party Liaison and Development Executive. With a Scotland wide brief, this is a challenging new opportunity to help develop, train and motivate the voluntary party throughout Scotland.  

From local Association management to campaigning at elections, volunteers are the lifeblood of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party, and it is the responsibility of all our professional staff to ensure that all our volunteers feel valued and appreciated.

Based in Glasgow, this role would suit an engaging, articulate, and outgoing person who must be willing to travel across Scotland to develop relationships with all party volunteers. 

Your responsibilities

Working closely with, and reporting to, the Director of the Party you will be expected to:

  • Work with local Association officer bearers, volunteers and Regional chairmen/campaign managers to develop effective communication systems between the voluntary party and professional staff across Scotland to help deliver on the party‚Äôs political priorities.
  • Develop the voluntary party infrastructure in areas of Scotland where our support has increased over the past few years, but the voluntary capacity has not.
  • Be the first point of contact for the voluntary party in diagnosing any source of local problems or issues and ensuring such issues are dealt with professionally and sympathetically. Liaising with Regional chairmen/campaign managers
  • Develop campaigning skills and manage and organise the training of volunteers and local Association officers, with a focus on developing their competence to run successful election campaigns.
  • Where required, support any event management of associations such as organising AGMs, association meetings and social events.
  • Ensure that the development and training needs of local Association office bearers, and potential officer bearers, are met by regular and appropriate training sessions.

Your professional experience:

  • A track record of being an effective communicator with experience of empowering and engaging with volunteers
  • Experience of building capacity within the voluntary sector which will enable individuals to deliver solutions to local challenges.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training modules would be an asset.
  • Your values should be aligned with those of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Applicants should have access to a car and hold a clean driving licence.
