Kemi Badenoch: Maximise the extraction of oil and gas

Oil and gas

Russell Findlay and Andrew Bowie joined Kemi Badenoch in Aberdeen today to announce our plans to revitalise our North Sea industry.

The Conservatives will:

  • End Labour’s ban on new oil & gas licences
  • Reverse restrictions so we can promote and finance British energy exports abroad
  • Refocus the North Sea Authority on one clear mission: maximising domestic production
  • Unlock investment, protect skilled jobs, and strengthen Britain’s energy independence

Meanwhile, Labour and the SNP are strangling the industry with their ideological pursuit of Net Zero at any cost – blocking new licences, driving up imports, and dismantling an industry that supports up to 200,000 jobs.

And Reform want part-nationalisation, putting politicians in charge of oil and gas fields, taking us back to the 1970s when government-run industries were driven into the ground.

It is only the Conservative Party that is backing Britain’s North Sea industry.
