2014 Scottish Conservative Conference

14 Mar 2014

Edinburgh is expected to receive an economic boost of more than £1million with the hosting of the Scottish Conservatives’ annual conference.

This weekend’s event is held in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), who estimate the spring gathering will generate £1.47million for Scotland’s capital.

The conference is taking place between March 14 and 16 and will feature senior party figures from around the UK.

Scottish Conservative deputy leader Jackson Carlaw MSP said:

“It is significant the Scottish Conservatives will be holding their annual conference in the nation’s capital in the same year as the referendum, which will be a defining moment in our history.

“As the home of the Scottish Parliament there is no better place to debate the future of Scotland’s place within the UK.

“This will be one of the party’s most important conferences for several years and we are looking forward to welcoming senior Conservative figures and members from around the UK.

“This year the conference will be extended by an extra day, which means delegates can look forward to a packed programme of events over three days.”

EICC Chief Executive, Hans H Rissmann OBE, said:

“2014 will live on in the record books as a historic year in Scotland’s political history and we are delighted to play our part as the chosen venue for one of the major party conferences next spring.”
