Text on screen: A Day In The Life Of Jack McConnell.

Open on a Jack McConnell look-a-like asleep in bed.
Cut to his alarm clock as is goes from 6.59 to 7.00. Instead of an alarm we hear Annabel’s voice coming out of the alarm clock.

Annabel Goldie: “Morning Jack. What are you going to do about getting more policemen on the beat? You do know there are only 147 in the whole of Scotland at any one time don’t you?  That’s not enough.”

Jack leans over and turns the radio off.

Cut to Jack in his kitchen eating breakfast. He is reading a paper. As he turns the page, there in the paper is another question. ‘Jack, I’m concerned about maternity units and A&E being closed.  Can we talk?.’

He discards the paper and turns on the TV, we see Annabel on the screen.

Annabel Goldie: “Jack. Can we talk about the Scottish Conservatives’ proposal to invest £100m in drug rehabilitation? As I explained, for every pound we invest, we’ll actually save ten pounds on policing, prisons and healthcare related to drug addiction.”

Jack switches off TV.

Cut to him leaving the house, he bends down to pick up some post by the doorstep. A piece of mail poses another question, ‘Jack. There are far too many people in Scotland without a dentist.  Can we get something done about this?’

Cut to him in the car. He turns his radio on and again Annabel is there with comments.

Annabel Goldie: “Jack. We must talk about The Scottish Conservatives’ proposal for Affordable Homes Trusts. They really will help first time buyers get on the ladder.”

He drives past a 48 sheet poster addressed to him. ‘Jack. I want to cut pensioners’ council tax in half.  How about it?’

Walking to Parliament building.
He gets a text: “Jack.  4get ur road tolls plan.  Just another tax on families – motorists have paid 2 much already.”

He arrives at his office in parliament. There is a post it note on his door. ‘Jack, must talk about giving parents more choice in childcare. Annabel.’

He screws it up. He sits at his desk. He turns on his computer.

He has an email from Annabel. We see a close up of the screen.
From: Annabel Goldie
Subject: Investment in Mental Health Services.

Cut to a wide shot of First Ministers question time.
Cut to a close up of Annabel, asking Jack him a question.

Annabel Goldie: "Letting prisoners out early isn’t the answer."

Cut to a wider shot of Annabel

Annabel Goldie: "Time and again, my party has tried to end automatic early release, but time and again we have been blocked by every other party in the Parliament."
