"These figures are appalling. Alex Salmond has cost the taxpayer £23,000 for every time he has set foot in Westminster. He is treating taxpayers like a laughing stock. People in Banff and Buchan did not vote for him in 2005 with the view that he would go on to completely ignore them. He is treating them with contempt and it is likely they will have to put up with another two years of this nonsense. "As it currently stands, there is no hard-working MP for Banff and Buchan, which is the least that any constituency deserves. "Alex Salmond is still using taxpayers’ money to finance his Westminster duties a job he is clearly no longer bothered about. He draws an MP’s salary when all these facts confirm it is totally undeserved. If he had even a small amount of humility he would do the decent thing and stop taking Banff & Buchan for granted. I won’t be holding my breath, though." "For a man so keen on referendums, he needs to give one to the people of Banff & Buchan, and stand down now."
