The Scottish Corporate Sector Statistics have been published today and show that the number of private sector registered enterprises decreased by 1,425; meaning that the number has fallen for three years in a row.
Scottish Conservative Finance Spokesman Gavin Brown MSP said:
"It is disappointing to note that the number of private sector registered enterprises has fallen by 1,425 firms. This seems to be a worrying trend as they have now decreased for the third year running.
"The Scottish Government needs to stop patting themselves on the back and start addressing our comparatively poor business start-up rate and levels of entrepreneurship."
