The BBC has released information showing the high levels of uncollected Council Tax across the UK, with cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh both appearing in the top 4 for 2009/10.
Derek Brownlee MSP, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Finance says:
"Since Council Tax was introduced, almost £1billion has not been collected in Scotland, which represents £404 per dwelling. That represents a massive burden on those who do pay, putting extra strain on local authorities and extra pressure on local services.
"As we get to grips with Labour's debt legacy, it is vital every penny of outstanding Council Tax is collected."
