Scottish Conservative Leader Annabel Goldie joined with the leaders of the other opposition parties, Iain Gray and Tavish Scott, in issuing the following statement after the Scottish government debate this afternoon on the Scottish Variable Rate of Income Tax.
"In the course of the afternoon John Swinney had to bend to the will of the Parliament.
"His opening statement was inadequate. However by the end of the debate he offered a number of apologies and regrets.
"The essential facts still need to be clarified. We are calling for the matter to be referred for a detailed investigation by the Finance Committee and for full disclosure of all information and correspondence and not the selection chosen by the cabinet secretary."
