SNP hypocrisy on students – They are the real sell-out party

The SNP have spent the past 24 hours attacking other parties for 'betraying' students – when their own record shows how totally hypocritical this is.

Murdo Fraser MSP, Scottish Conservative Deputy Leader, said:

"It is bare-faced cheek for the SNP to accuse anyone else of hypocrisy on student issues.

"The SNP is the 'sell-out' party to the student population, after breaking so many of their promises to students. The SNP promised they would write off student loan-debt and replace loans with grants, but quickly dropped these pledges after the 2007 election.

"Even now the SNP is failing higher education by keeping its head in the sand on the funding issue, while at least Westminster is tackling it for higher education in England.

"Rather than attacking others, the SNP should be apologising to all Scottish students for the their catalogue of broken promises."
