SNP emptied our jails – How can we trust them with victims’ rights?

The SNP's plans for victims' rights would be more credible if they hadn't put more criminals on our streets.

John Lamont, Scottish Conservative Justice Spokesperson, said:

"We could take these plans more seriously if the SNP had not pressed ahead with emptying Scotland's jails over the past four years. They broke their promise to scrap automatic early release from jails and instead they scrapped short sentences. The SNP, backed by the Scottish Liberal Democrats, put more criminals on our streets.

"Scottish Conservatives would scrap automatic early release and reintroduce short sentences. Common sense policies like this are the best way of standing up for the victims of crime and Scottish Conservative MSPs will fight for these measures in the next parliament."
