Significant policies being undermined by SNP failures

In her last FMQs with Alex Salmond, Annabel Goldie has called on the SNP to follow through on polices delivered by the Scottish Conservatives.

She highlighted that the new drugs strategy is not being rolled out at ground level, that businesses are being hit with higher business rates and that the work of the 1,000 extra police is being undermined by understaffed courts that cannot prosecute criminal cases.

Annabel Goldie said:

"I was proud to have delivered a new drugs strategy, 1,000 extra police officers and to have helped thousands of small businesses with their rates. These are three significant policies that are all being undermined by a failure from the Scottish Government to ensure their continued success.

"I hope that the First Minister stays true to his word to protect these measures and that he follows through on my instructions to take immediate action to counteract these failures. He must start providing real help to Scots who want policies that are working in our communities, a justice system delivering for victims and help for small businesses - not higher taxes.

"While Alex Salmond prioritises his independence agenda and jaunting off to the Middle East it falls to me to reign him in again. Let me reassure the First Minister that while I may not be invited round to the new Salmond Towers for drinks, he has not heard the last of me. I shall write, and I shall call."
