Scottish Conservatives – Third and final Party Election Broadcast

This week our third and final Party Election Broadcast will be aired, on Thursday 28th April.

Please find below a transcript of the PEB.

ANNABEL GOLDIE

"Scotland is a place of such diverse beauty and character whether it's in the countryside with our rivers, our mountains, our lochs, our coast. Or whether it's in our bustling towns and cities and I just feel there's so much we can do for Scotland to encourage people, to provide opportunity, to give hope and, yes, we've got real challenges at the moment but, also, we can be optimistic for the future.

"It's a day like this, and a place like this, that really makes you realise how precious and how unusual Scotland is, and I like to get down near the River Clyde and do a bit of bird-watching, if possible. And I just find that this fresh air, this relaxation – the mind clears, and some of your best thoughts come to you.

"Sometimes people say to me: you politicians, you're all the same. Well, we're not all the same. And what I would say to voters is: don't judge us on what we say, judge us on our deeds, judge us on what we've done, judge us on what we have delivered in the last four years: these extra police officers, the council tax freeze, and we're into the fourth year of it now, the help for small businesses, the help for the construction industry to build more houses, help people get on the housing ladder. You know, we delivered all of these policies; they wouldn't be there without our votes.

"People think this election is all about Salmond and Gray – well, thankfully, it's not because, while either might end up in government, neither will have absolute power because the Scottish Parliament doesn't work that way. Why? Because parties need to work together to achieve things and that's what I've been doing over the last four years: negotiating, fighting, delivering for Scotland - common sense in action.

"So you see it's not all about Salmond and Gray – you hold the key to more common sense for the Scottish Parliament. And if you want more straight-talking from me, more telling it like it is, holding them to account, more common sense delivering for Scotland, then use your common sense: vote Conservative for your local MSP and use your regional vote, that's the peach ballot paper, to vote for me, and the Scottish Conservatives, and more common sense in your Scottish Parliament. And, together, we can deliver for Scotland."

The PEB will be broadcast on Thursday 28th April 2011.
