The final Pack Inquiry Report has been published today.
John Scott MSP, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs & the Environment, said:
"I welcome the Pack Report's main conclusions that direct support is essential for the future delivery of food production and security, environmental enhancement, and other public benefits with future support going to active land managers.
"However, budgets and the approval of the EU and MEPs still need to be agreed before the reformed CAP is put in place three or four years from now. So whilst I welcome many of the detailed recommendations made by Pack, others elsewhere will decide on the ultimate shape of the reformed CAP."
