ScotRail train incident has polarised opinion

Alan Pollock, who allegedly intervened in an argument between a student and a ticket collector on a ScotRail train, has today been charged with assault.

Nicknamed the 'Big Man', internet footage of the incident has made headlines around the world.

Scottish Conservative Justice Spokesman, David McLetchie MSP said:

"It is now for the Procurator Fiscal to decide on whether to prosecute Mr Pollock. This is a case that has polarised opinion across the country and any trial is unlikely to please everyone.

"In all the circumstances this may be a case where a warning letter to Mr Pollock would suffice and draw a line under the matter."
