Official data for the fourth quarter of 2011 has shown that the retail sector has grown, with the volume of sales up by 0.7% on the last three months. The value of sales also rose by 0.8% from the previous quarter.
Scottish Conservative Finance Spokesman, Gavin Brown MSP said:
"Despite these figures, it is clear that the retail sector is still facing difficult and uncertain times.
"It is now imperative that the Scottish Government uses the powers it already has to help the sector and even more vital that they don't bring in a Scotland-only levy that will have a detrimental impact on jobs."
