Salmonds use of Edinburgh Castle unacceptable

It has emerged that Alex Salmond will be using Edinburgh Castle to host the press conference following the launch of the consultation process on the referendum.

It comes after criticism in the past for using Edinburgh Castle to host events far more frequently than any of his predecessors.

Scottish Conservative Chief Whip, John Lamont MSP said:

"Alex Salmond's enormous ego is getting out of control as he seeks to rule Scotland like a medieval king. Use of this historic venue is a privilege that should not be abused yet he is insistent on treating it as his own personal banqueting hall.

"It is not acceptable for him to abuse his right to use them in such a manner, especially as Edinburgh Castle is one of Scotland's most treasured landmarks. Instead of attempting to move his office into the castle he should come back down to earth and start concentrating on getting Scotland working again."
