The UK Government has today outlined a referendum timetable to allow Scots to vote in a legal referendum in September 2013, one year earlier than the SNP are currently proposing.
Ruth Davidson said:
"The majority of people want an end to the continual uncertainty of whether Scotland separates from the rest of the United Kingdom
"Nowhere in the SNP manifesto is there a timetable for holding this referendum.
"Alex Salmond was bounced into saying that the Referendum would be held in the second half of the Scottish Parliament at a hustings event just days before last year's election, and after thousands of people had already voted by post."
"The Scottish Secretary has today outlined how this poll could be held earlier, while still giving time to scrutinise the bill and have a proper discussion on the substantial issues of what a separate Scotland would look like.
"Alex Salmond is the roadblock to holding an early vote, so for the good of Scotland he should just get on with it."
