Public sector pension contributions: SNP happy to criticise, but no ideas of their own

Despite giving a statement in Holyrood today, the SNP Government has still not spelt out its position on public sector pension contributions.

Gavin Brown MSP, Scottish Conservative Economy Spokesperson, said:

"Once again the SNP Government has ducked a serious issue. Their own Independent Budget Review said that changes to public sector pension contributions are essential and almost certainly unavoidable [see notes].

"The SNP Government did not spell out what they thought contributions should be – they simply ignored the question. They did not state what they thought was an 'appropriate timetable' – instead the issue has been ducked.

"It is high time this SNP Government started acting like a government, stopped running away from the serious issues and spelt out their views in detail."
