Parole Board report shows that more prisoners should serve their full sentence

The Parole Board for Scotland's annual report for 2010-11 has shown that 117 of those granted early release had to be recalled after their behaviour in the community was 'giving rise for concern'.

Scottish Conservative Justice Spokesman, David McLetchie MSP said:

"This is the inevitable consequence of early release. None of these recalls would have been necessary if the criminals concerned had served the full sentence handed down to them by the courts.

"Regrettably, the SNP Government shows no sign of ending early release in the near future and as a result we can expect more of the same in the years to come."
