No to Local Income Tax but Labour’s sums don’t add up

Scottish Conservatives will lead the fight against a Local Income Tax, but Labour's sums just don't add up.

Derek Brownlee, Scottish Conservative Finance Spokesperson, said:

"Local Income Tax would be a disaster for Scotland, and just as the Scottish Conservatives stopped it in the last Parliament, we will stop it if any party is reckless enough to try to introduce it again.

"However, Labour's sums don't add up. If Labour win the election, they will have to make Scotland the highest-taxed part of the UK to fund all their expensive promises.

"Voters remember the 62% increase in Council Tax the last time Labour were in power. And every chance Labour had to endorse a Council Tax freeze in the last parliament, they refused."

"And voters should be told that in Iain Gray's own back yard of East Lothian, his Labour colleagues tried to increase Council Tax this year. Labour are unbelievable on tax."
