The managing director of Edinburgh Airport, Kevin Brown, has resigned after a year in post. He will be replaced by Jim O'Sullivan, who currently works at Heathrow Airport, which does not have the much-criticised 'Drop Off Rip Off' charge.
Jackson Carlaw MSP, Scottish Conservative Transport Spokesperson, said:
"This change at the top of Edinburgh Airport is a golden opportunity for a fresh start and a re-think on the 'Drop-off Rip-off' charges introduced last year.
"Forcing drivers to pay merely to drop off family or friends at the Airport was a bad move – it treated them like cash cows and was universally condemned. Thousands signed petitions opposing the plan – but Mr. Brown carried on regardless.
"His replacement joins from another airport which doesn't operate such a scheme, Heathrow - and I will seek an early meeting with him to urge him to scrap the unfair Drop-off Rip-off tax at Edinburgh."
Ruth: "Our thoughts should now be with the families of the victims who died on that fateful day in December 1988."

Ruth: "However, this should not stop the questions that still exist, including those regarding his release by the SNP Government."
