Tomorrow (April 1st 2011), the Lockerbie Bomber will celebrate his 59th birthday – 588 days after he was released from prison in Scotland.
John Lamont, Scottish Conservative Justice Spokesperson, said:
"Over 18 months since he was released from jail, the Lockerbie Bomber is now celebrating his second birthday as a free man. Just recently it was reported that he was building a new three-storey house in Tripoli, and was regularly taking trips in a chauffeured Lamborghini to view the site. Is this what the SNP Government or previous UK Labour Government had in mind when they made plans for his release?
"Even taking into account the current troubled situation in Libya, people will be outraged by this. After serving less than two weeks for every person he murdered, he has been allowed to live with those he loves – something he denied his victims. It is an insult to their memory."
Ruth: "Our thoughts should now be with the families of the victims who died on that fateful day in December 1988."

Ruth: "However, this should not stop the questions that still exist, including those regarding his release by the SNP Government."
