Daryn Maxwell has admitted to the murder Reamonn Gormley carried out in February this year. At the time of the attack Mr. Maxwell was out on bail having appealed a sentence handed to him for stabbing another man three times.
Scottish Conservative Justice Spokesman, John Lamont MSP said:
"The fact of the matter is that if Daryn Maxwell was behind bars he would have been unable to commit this brutal murder. Having carried out a similarly ruthless attack before, many people will believe that he should not have been trusted to be let out into society and given the chance to strike again.
"Reamonn Gormley's death was a tragedy that rocked the local community in Blantyre – what we must now ensure is that similar cases are not allowed to follow ever again."
Ruth: "Our thoughts should now be with the families of the victims who died on that fateful day in December 1988."

Ruth: "However, this should not stop the questions that still exist, including those regarding his release by the SNP Government."
