Lack of domestic abuse support for men ‘very disappointing’

Police statistics released today on domestic abuse show that the number of male victims of domestic abuse has risen by 201% since 2000-01.

Scottish Conservative Health spokesperson Mary Scanlon MSP, commented:

"The government has rightly taken some credit for the fall in the number of female victims as a result of active public information campaigning. It is unfortunate and very disappointing that there are still no services or support designed for the 15 per cent of victims in Scotland who are male."

Mary Scanlon has been a long standing campaigner in support for male victims of domestic abuse
