Scotland would not be safe in Labour's hands - as Iain Gray and Jim Murphy's speeches to the UK Labour Party Conference in Manchester this morning gave no vision as to how they would help the country recover from the effects of Labour's debt legacy, if Iain Gray became First Minister next year.
Murdo Fraser MSP, Scottish Conservative Deputy Leader, said:
"Scottish Labour is in denial. For Jim Murphy to claim that they didn't lose their economic credibility in government is utter tosh. They bankrupted our country, and any cuts are Labour cuts.
"And for Iain Gray, the man who would be First Minister, to be totally silent on what he would do to deal with the massive debt and deficit legacy which Labour left Scotland, is dishonest and cowardly.
"The right action is needed to help Scotland weather the storm of Labour's economic mismanagement. We must protect vital services and the most vulnerable, but the fact is we are going to have to face up to some tough decision-making to get our country back on its feet. We heard nothing today from Iain Gray on how he would do that - Scotland is not safe in Labour's hands."
Jim Murphy said in his speech: "I believe that we didn't lose our economic credibility in Government and we all know that we won't lose it in Opposition."
Ruth: "Our thoughts should now be with the families of the victims who died on that fateful day in December 1988."

Ruth: "However, this should not stop the questions that still exist, including those regarding his release by the SNP Government."
