Scottish Conservative Leader Annabel Goldie MSP yesterday met the Prime Minister in Downing Street along with David Mundell MP, Minister of State for Scotland.
Following the meeting, Annabel said:
"We discussed a number of issues relating to Scotland, including fuel prices.
"I pressed upon him the impact petrol prices have, especially in our more rural areas, and he is very aware of the challenges to household and business budgets.
"The last Labour Government announced a series of fuel duty increases that are now coming into effect.
"As the Prime Minister has said, we are looking at whether it is possible to introduce a Fair Fuel Stabiliser and the Treasury is currently considering the Office for Budget Responsibility's (OBR) assessment of such a system. As always tax issues are a matter for the Chancellor and are announced at the Budget.
"However, reflecting the Coalition's commitment to investigate measures to help with fuel costs in remote rural areas, the Government is considering the case for introducing a fuel duty discount in remote rural areas."
Ruth: "Our thoughts should now be with the families of the victims who died on that fateful day in December 1988."

Ruth: "However, this should not stop the questions that still exist, including those regarding his release by the SNP Government."
