Fuel duty: Scottish Conservatives welcome UK Government help for island economies

The Chief Secretary to the Treasury of the UK Government has today announced plans to reduce fuel duty by 5p in island and remote communities.

Jackson Carlaw MSP, Shadow Minister for Transport, said:

"Scottish Conservatives welcome this early response, demonstrating how the Conservative-Lib Dem UK Government is taking forward measures with purpose to assist our island economies.

"This follows the joint non-partisan approach shown by Scottish Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats and the SNP in the Scottish Parliament this week.

"Today's announcement shows just how foolish and irresponsible Labour was to simply wring their hands in the debate and then sit on them at the vote."
