A report by the Scottish Parliament's Public Audit Committee has said ticket sales projections for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games may be too ambitious and may need to be reviewed.
Murdo Fraser MSP, Scottish Conservative Deputy Leader and Deputy Convenor of the Public Audit Committee, said:
"Following the recent debacle over The Gathering in Edinburgh, it is essential that where events are supported by the public purse, all income projections are subjected to robust analysis.
"The Gathering ended up as a financial disaster due to wildly optimistic revenue projections. We cannot afford the same to happen to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games."
Ruth: "Our thoughts should now be with the families of the victims who died on that fateful day in December 1988."
