The Scottish Government have released estimates for manufactured exports in the second quarter of 2011 that show a slowdown in the growth of exports from 3.9% in the previous quarter, to 1.1%.
Commenting on the figures, Alex Johnstone, Scottish Conservative MSP for North East Scotland, said:
"These figures show a worrying slowdown in the growth of Scottish exports and we must take every necessary measure to ensure that this downward trend does not continue.
"If the SNP are to ever achieve their target of a 50% increase in exports they must first get realistic about how they might achieve it. The Scottish Conservatives have repeatedly pushed the Export Support Initiative but as long as the SNP only dedicate a paltry £2.5m towards it then it is not going to make the significant impact needed to reach that target."
Ruth: "Our thoughts should now be with the families of the victims who died on that fateful day in December 1988."

Ruth: "However, this should not stop the questions that still exist, including those regarding his release by the SNP Government."
