Drug Strategy not being enacted on the ground

A report from the Information Services Division (ISD) has revealed that the estimated number of problem drug users has risen by 4,300. In the 35 to 64 year age bracket the number of drug users has risen by a third.

Commenting on the figures, Scottish Conservative Communities Spokesperson, Annabel Goldie MSP said:

"These are dreadful figures and prove that the new national drug strategy is not working on the ground. I have already warned the SNP that a glossy brochure is not enough and today's figures ram that fact home.

"Every day nearly twelve people become addicted to drugs and this is simply not acceptable. I am proud of the new national drugs strategy but this means nothing if it is not being effectively enacted in our communities."
