The Managing Director of Edinburgh Airport has today said in an interview with BBC Good Morning Scotland that the drop-off charge is 'the right thing to do' and it is here to stay.
Gavin Brown, Scottish Conservative MSP for Lothians, who has led the campaign against the charge, said:
"I am stunned by these comments. The right thing to do for an airport which is already operating at a tidy profit is not to milk its customers as a cash cow.
"This is a crass, insensitive and money grabbing move. It is bitterly disappointing that, despite the unanimous opposition to the drop-off charge, Edinburgh Airport have gone ahead with its introduction.

"People from all over Scotland are strongly opposed to it. The airport has ignored its own passengers, and residents, businesses and politicians from across the entire political spectrum. Over 9,000 people have already supported my petition against the 'the drop-off rip off'. Since its introduction I have received a great deal of correspondence from constituents on the issue.
"There is every chance that this charge is the thin end of the wedge as there is nothing to stop BAA increasing the drop-off charge in the future. Indeed, they have already refused to rule out an increase.
"I urge people to sign and support my petition as I continue the fight the drop-off rip off."
