According to reports, Colonel Gadaffi has said relatives the Lockerbie Bomber will seek compensation after he dies, citing apparent ill-treatment whilst he was imprisoned in Scotland.
John Lamont MSP, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Justice, said:
"If this is true, it is disgusting behaviour. I have no doubt that the Lockerbie Bomber received exemplary care during his time in prison. He was well looked-after, as were members of his family, when he fell ill.
"Every time the Lockerbie Bomber's name is raised, Scotland looks more and more foolish to the rest of the world. We said at the time, a year and a quarter ago, that he should not have been released and we stand by that call."
