The report by financial giant Citigroup into the prospect of an independent Scotland has shown that the annual cost incurred to Scottish households as a result of paying for Scottish renewable subsidies would rise to £875 per household.
Commenting on the report, Gavin Brown MSP said:
"The report from Citigroup gives a deeply worrying insight into the shocking cost that would be incurred by each household should Scotland become separated from the United Kingdom.
"For years we have been saying that the SNP's energy policy is short sighted, blinkered and is in danger of turning Scotland into a net importer of energy.
"It acts as another reminder that while renewables are an important energy source, by pursuing it to the exclusion of other low carbon sources, such as nuclear, we are not providing Scotland with the balanced energy policy it needs"
