Conservative Future Scotland launches new website

Conservative Future Scotland (CFS) has today launched a new interactive website. The site provides an online hub for both members and non members alike.

The new site, which is a complete re-build from the outdated previous one includes; Facebook and Twitter integration, a dedicated news section, a branch map and the ability to join the Party online.

Commenting on the new website, CFS President, Duncan Stewart said:

"It's great to see this new website. Any professional and growing organisation must provide a well maintained website for younger Conservatives nationwide and I am delighted we are now able to do that.

"This year, Conservative Future Scotland had a very successful freshers period, signing up hundreds of people who have taken an interest. Along with having a good freshers period at our University branches, we have also had interest about CFS from people all over Scotland. We hope to build on this and expand our branch network in the coming months.

"With the Conservatives returning to government for the first time in a generation, many young people across the country are turning to Conservative Future Scotland and getting involved. With the Scottish elections only round the corner, CFS will be out knocking on doors and leafleting homes across Scotland. With gains to be made at next years elections, it really is an exciting time to be a young conservative in Scotland."

Anne Sutherland, CFS Chairman said:

"For some time we have not been able to provide a decent and vibrant online forum for our message and reach out to young people who are of a Conservative mindset in Scotland. The new website is functional and creative and I believe it will be invaluable in helping us continue to grow across the country."

The website has several main purposes:
• Provide an online central portal for both members and non-members
• Expand and enhance both the image and message of Conservatism in Scotland
• Provide a platform for publishing CFS news

The new website can be found at www.conservativefuturescotland.com and is live from today.

Notes to editors

1. Conservative Future Scotland (CFS) is the youth wing of the Scottish Conservative Party. It represents all members of the Scottish Conservatives under the age of 30 and is the umbrella organisation for all university, college, city and constituency CFS branches.

2. CFS exists to provide a platform for young people to get involved in politics by providing opportunities to meet together at social occasions and political events and take part in campaigning activities.

3. CFS is autonomous from Conservative Future which covers England and Wales, but we maintain close links.

4. Conservative Future Scotland's website address is, www.conservativefuturescotland.com and the general information email address is info@conservativefuturescotland.com

5. The website is a result of a consultation with the Party Executive and members. The previous site was outdated and therefore not suitable for the current ‘virtual climate'. A completely new, modern and inviting interface has been designed, making use of official Party branding, but making it distinctive from other Conservative websites. The new website is fully compatible with ‘web 2.0' standards, making use of many different social media platforms and on-site interactivity.
