Common Sense ruling denies prison vote

A prisoner serving a life sentence for murder has had his case for a vote in next month's Scottish Parliament election thrown out of court.

John Lamont, Scottish Conservative Justice Spokesperson, said:

"This is very welcome news. It is an outrage that any prisoner should get the vote. Those who commit crimes against society and are behind bars should forfeit the right to partake in the democratic process.

"Put simply, the freedom to participate in electing law makers should not be given to law breakers. We fully support this common sense ruling."
