Lord Carloway has published his set of recommendations aimed at overhauling Scots criminal law.
Scottish Conservative Justice Spokesman David McLetchie MSP, said:
"This is a very significant piece of research which highlights how Scots law could be improved by changing rules of evidence. If abolishing corroboration means that more people can be brought to trial then that is to be welcomed.
"In particular it may bring justice to women who have been the victims of serious sexual assault.
"However, we must not forget the presumption of innocence which is the cornerstone of our justice system. Whatever crime an individual may have been charged with, he or she must receive a fair trial and guilt must be proven beyond all reasonable doubt."
