Carlaw: New Forth bridge can be tribute to Scottish engineering and design

A preferred bidder has been chosen to build the bridge and connecting roads elements of the Forth Replacement Crossing.

The Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors (FCBC) consortium, comprising Dragados, Hochtief, American Bridge International and Morrison Construction, has been selected.

Jackson Carlaw MSP, Shadow Minister for Transport, said:

"If the new Forth Crossing can indeed be built on budget and on time, then today's announcement of a preferred bidder, The Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors, several hundred million pounds below the initial estimate is very welcome news for both the project itself and Scottish taxpayers.

"Scottish Conservatives have consistently supported a new Forth crossing. Today's news means that the project can now proceed, securing the future of the economy of Fife and the North with the construction of an iconic new bridge. This would create a unique trio of crossings from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries across the Forth - a remarkable working tribute to Scottish engineering and design."
