Scottish Conservatives are looking at the option of allowing multiple occupancy vehicles to use bus and taxi lanes in a bid to ease congestion worries.
Speaking from the UK Conservative Party Conference in Blackpool, Jackson Carlaw MSP, Shadow Minister for Transport, said:
"It is vital that we develop strategies on transport that amount to more than telling people that they will have to do without their motor vehicles.
"We will need to make travel more efficient and offer rewards for schemes which, for example, encourage widespread car sharing, whether through car clubs or ideas Conservatives have advanced on allowing multiple occupancy vehicles to use bus and taxi lanes. We have also advocated bold and imaginative schemes to introduce hard shoulder running on appropriate motorways.
"In 21st century Scotland we have a number of problems to deal with in creating a sustainable transport network - it is vital we start finding the solutions now."
