The SNP Government has today criticised the UK Government's approach to tackling Labour's record debt as ‘decisions that will cut spending too deeply, too quickly and in the wrong place'. Yet the SNP Government continues to refuse to say what it would do.
Derek Brownlee MSP, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Finance & Sustainable Growth, said:
"John Swinney and the SNP say that the UK Government is cutting too far and too fast. The SNP is happy to criticise the UK Government, but what would they do? If the SNP want the cuts to be shallower and slower, then either taxes will have to go up, or borrowing will rise even more, or both.
It is time the SNP told us whether they want more tax rises, higher borrowing, or to hit Scotland with both."
