Brownlee: Commission doesn’t mean Salmond can ignore public service reform

Today Alex Salmond will launch a commission, chaired by former STUC general secretary Campbell Christie, with the aim of "examining structural change in public services".

Derek Brownlee MSP, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Finance & Sustainable Growth, said:

"Although we believe the creation of the Christie Commission was a device by the SNP to delay decisions on public service reform, we wish the members well and hope that they deliver a substantive piece of work on reforming public services.

"However, if Alex Salmond thinks the establishment of the Commission means he doesn't have to take serious steps on reform before the election, he had better think again."
