The BBC Trust has announced that it will be making BBC Alba available on Freeview.
Ted Brocklebank MSP, Shadow Minister for Culture said:
"This is a great Christmas present for BBC Alba. I am delighted that the BBC Trust has heeded the arguments and provided a well deserved platform for Alba on Freeview.
"The new Gaelic TV channel has more than fulfilled expectations and is providing an excellent service for native Gaels and those interested in the language and culture.
"I firmly believe it will build on its success now that it is available for terrestrial as well as satellite viewers."
On the 6th of October this year Ted Brocklebank led a members' business debate congratulating BBC Alba, that received cross-party support.
The transcript of the debate can be found here: http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/Apps2/Business/ORSearch/ReportView.aspx?r=5811&i=52147&c=1124104&s=alba
