Police have called for the public's help in their hunt for a registered sex offender, Paul Hunter Redpath, who is feared to be on the loose in Scotland.
He was last seen in Aberdeen on July 19th but went missing after failing to check in with police.
John Lamont MSP, Scottish Conservative Justice Spokesperson, said:
"This is another worrying case where more could and should be done to keep the public safe.
"It is bad enough that sex offenders sent to jail for fixed terms are often set free after half or even less of their sentence. It is worse that when they do walk free more is not done to monitor them. Parents will rightly ask why has it taken so long for this vile man's disappearance to be made public.
"Scottish Conservatives have repeatedly called for the use of GPS monitoring of dangerous sex offenders so that when they are released we can track their movements. I repeat that call today and also for dangerous criminals who abscond to have their photograph made public and published on the 'most wanted' website. The SNP can and must do more."
