The Healthcare Environment Inspectorate's Report published today has called for several improvements to the infection control practices at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health & Wellbeing, Murdo Fraser MSP, said:
"The findings in this report are extremely disappointing. Sadly Ninewells has a history of problems with cleaning and this report suggests that these are continuing.
"The necessary action and appropriate measures as outlined in the HEI report must be taken to sort out this mess at Ninewells Hospital. NHS Tayside must take on board the Report's recommendations and work hard to ensure that there is no repeat of this poor practise.
"The report finds that there is a lack of leadership within NHS Tayside, but the SNP Government also have to be responsible for providing leadership in making our hospitals cleaner and having stronger infection control. Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon needs to get a grip on this issue as a matter of urgency."
The inspections at Ninewells Hospital took place on 16th and 17th of November.
