In less than 72 hours Scotland goes to the polls – and in a parliament of minority parties, we need someone to stand up to the excesses of nationalism and socialism.
Speaking from Dumfries, where he was joined by local candidates Gill Dykes and Alex Fergusson, David Mundell, Scotland Office Minister, said:
"As we saw from the Leaders' debate in Perth, Annabel Goldie is the only one prepared to stand up and tell it like it is. She is realistic about today but optimistic about tomorrow.
"The people will decide the balance of the next parliament and decide what the balance of power and influence will be at Holyrood.
"No one party will have a majority. People don't have to vote for a party they don't like to stop another party they like even less. They can vote for what they want.
"Scottish politics needs somebody who will stand up to the excesses of nationalism and socialism. That somebody is Annabel.
"Today Alex Salmond has tried to claim independence is not one of this top three priorities. What nonsense – the SNP exists to rip Scotland out of Britain.
"Only Annabel and the Scottish Conservatives will stand up against the SNP's separation plans. Labour has wobbled on an independence bill, the Lib Dems are wobbling on an independence bill, only Annabel and the Scottish Conservatives are resolute in our opposition to an independence bill.
"Annabel has a record of delivery – 1000 extra police, a four year council tax freeze, a £60million Town Centre Regeneration Fund, a national drugs strategy and over 10,000 jobs created for small business and construction. With more Scottish Conservative MSPs she can deliver even more common sense in the next parliament.
"Every voter, in every seat and in every region of Scotland has two votes for that Scottish Conservative common sense.
"A constituency vote to decide their local MSP and a crucial regional vote on the peach ballot paper to decide who wields the balance of power and keeps Alex Salmond or Iain Gray in check.
"Every voter in every seat in every region of Scotland can use the peach ballot paper to vote for Annabel and more common sense politics on May 5th."
