Conservatives publish Armed Forces Manifesto 2010

WHILE THEY STAND UP FOR US, WE'LL STAND UP FOR THEM

On a visit to Stirling, Former Defence Secretary Sir Malcolm Rifkind says:

"Our armed forces defend our freedoms and way of life and we all owe them an enormous debt of gratitude.

"They stand up for us. Our duty is to stand up for them.

"Never again should they be sent into battle ill-equipped.

"Never again should they walk into battle when they should be flown in.

"Never again should their families have to live in sub-standard homes.

"They have been let down by Labour.

"A Conservative government will do all it takes to keep our country safe and we will do all it takes to protect the heroes who risk everything for us."

The Conservative Commitment to the Armed Forces:
